Campus rules

The purpose of this set of rules is to ensure a conference where everyone shares responsibility for our collective well-being.

Accomodation & Quiet hours:

  • Shower facilities: There are separate shower rooms for women and men; please respect this arrangement. Refer to the signs on the walls/doors to locate the shower rooms.

  • Please keep noise to a minimum in the corridors near the sleeping quarters; do not run in the hallways to prevent accidents.

  • There should be quiet in the sleeping areas by 10:00 PM out of consideration for those who need rest.

  • Quiet is expected in the sleeping quarters between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to allow for time of quiet reflection.

Meetings & Conference etiquette:

  • Mobile phones must be in silent mode during meetings.

  • All meetings will be live-streamed and video-recorded, and photographs and videos will be taken during both the meetings and the free time.

Safety:

  • You are responsible for your own valuable items, as individual rooms cannot be locked.

  • Parents are responsible for their children at all times throughout the conference.

  • To ensure safety while swimming, we strongly advise against going to the beach alone.

  • Children under the age of 15 must not be on the beach or near the water unsupervised.

  • Alcohol and intoxicants are prohibited.

  • Smoking is prohibited.

Pets:

  • Pets must be kept on a leash and are not permitted in the kitchen, the meeting hall, the canteen, or the children's room.

Swimming Safety Rules for the North Sea

The North Sea is beautiful and inviting with its crashing waves. However, be aware that powerful natural forces lie behind its beauty.

Your safety while swimming is important to us.

  • Do not jump into the water if you cannot see the bottom, as there may be hidden rocks or sharp objects.

  • Wait at least 30 minutes after eating before going back into the water.

  • Do not swim in bad weather.

  • Familiarize yourself with the beach and be aware of any dangerous areas.

  • Always keep an eye on your children and never let them swim unsupervised.

  • Stay close to the shore when swimming.

  • Be very careful when using inflatable toys or air mattresses, as wind and currents can carry you away from the shore.

  • Bring your mobile phone and find out where the nearest lifeguard tower is.

  • Protect yourself from the sun by using an umbrella, sunscreen, or staying in the shade.

  • Note the nearest beach number (displayed on the green signs) in case of an emergency.

  • Be especially careful during offshore winds.

Rip Currents – Almost Invisible, Yet Extremely Dangerous

When you are at the beach, it is important to be aware of rip currents.

When onshore winds push water toward the coast, gaps can form in the sandbars. Water then flows back out to sea through these gaps with great force. Although the water may appear calm and peaceful, the current can be extremely strong. It is therefore important to take precautions.

Always stay within sight of the beach and avoid drifting out on an inflatable mattress or similar float, as this can be particularly dangerous. Rip currents can quickly carry you away from the shore, even when the sea appears safe.

How to Escape a Rip Current

Most importantly: If you are caught in a rip current, do not try to swim directly against it. This will only exhaust you. Stay as calm as possible and allow the current to carry you until it weakens. Once it becomes weaker, swim parallel to the shoreline to get out of the current, then make your way safely back to shore.

Danish Emergency Numbers

  • If you are in a life-threatening emergency, call 112 to reach the police, fire service, or ambulance.

  • If you need police assistance but the situation is not urgent or life-threatening (for example, reporting a burglary after the offenders have already left), call 114.

  • If you have an injury or become suddenly ill outside your doctor's opening hours, contact the out-of-hours medical service (Lægevagten). You will speak with a doctor or nurse, who will advise you and arrange any necessary treatment, such as a visit to a hospital emergency department.

Please note: When calling the emergency services, speak slowly and clearly, and remember to provide your telephone number and your location.

Beach Flag Meanings

When the red and yellow flag is flying from the lifeguard tower, it means that lifeguards are on duty, and the designated swimming area is marked with red and yellow flags along the beach.

Remember: Swim between the flags.

Warning: If you see only a red flag, it means the conditions are too dangerous for swimming. Do not enter the water.
